Nguyen Thanh Thuy studied at the Hanoi National Conservatory of Music where she received her diploma in 1998, followed by a Master of Arts at the Institute of Vietnamese Folklore in 2002.
Since 2000 she holds a teaching position at the Hanoi National Conservatory of Music.

She has performed at the Roskilde festival in Denmark, Guzheng Melody in Indonesia, in Singapore, Russia, China and at numerous festivals in Vietnam.

She has received many distinctions, in 1992 First Prize in the Contest of Traditional Instrument Performance on Television and Radio, Vietnam, as well as in 1998 First Prize and the Best Traditional Music Performer Prize in the National Competition of Zither Talents, 1998, Vietnam.

Nguyen Thanh Thuy has recorded several CD’s as soloist with orchestra: Nhung danh cam dan toc tre (Young musician Talents) – 1998, Giai dieu bon mua (Four Seasons’ Melodies) – 1998, Loi ru que huong (Lullaby of the Native Land) – 2001 and a solo CD: Doc tau dan tranh Nguyen Thanh Thuy Vol.1 (Solo dan tranh Nguyen Thanh Thuy Vol.1) – 2005

Nguyen Thanh Thuy är utbildad vid Hanoi National Conservatory of Music där hon tog diplom 1998, som följdes av en Master of Arts vid Institute of Vietnamese Folklore 2002.
Sedan 2000 undervisar hon vid Hanoi National Conservatory of Music.

Hon har framträtt vid Roskildefestivalen i Danmark, Guzheng Melody i Indonesien, iSingapore, Ryssland, Kina och vid mängder av festivaler i Vietnam.

Thuy har spelat in flera CD som solist med orkester och en solo CD.
